Before you get your first rental request as an Outdoorsy host, there are a few things you should consider to make sure you’re ready to roll.
The Outdoorsy RV Host Community on facebook is stacked with knowledgeable, helpful, and experienced hosts. Search past conversations, or start a new one.
All guests on our platform go through a driver verification process. In addition to confirming the guest’s identity, we also run a background check and look at different elements about the rental request, such as a DMV check, location, vehicle type, rental period, etc.
Social media is also a good way to get a feel for the guest. Ask if they’d like to share their profiles, and chat with them about their plans and experience so you can gauge how good of a fit they are for your RV. Outdoorsy is committed to creating a safe environment for its hosts and guests, so we encourage members to follow their instincts and use the same level of caution they would when buying / selling on any marketplace (e.g., Craigslist, eBay).
Once you accept a request, we’ll charge the guest for their trip. The booking is considered complete once the reservation deposit is made. Once completed, we’ll email you a confirmation. You can view the booking anytime in your dashboard.
A guest will sometimes request to add days to their rental or change the dates. This can easily be managed from your dashboard. Just be sure the new dates don’t impact other bookings you have.
Be sure you’re available to your guest in the days leading up to their trip to answer any questions or offer advice. It’s also important to remind your guest of any restrictions you have and extra fees they might be charged (e.g., going over mileage, extra generator use, etc.).
Things like interior / exterior cleaning, tire check, fluid check, etc. are vital steps to take before your guest arrives. By following this checklist, you’ll be ready every time.
