We recently rented an RV through Outdoorsy and felt it was important to share our experience, especially as first-time campers.Upon pickup, we informed Alfredo that this was our first time using an RV, and he assured us he would provide a thorough walkthrough. While he did go over the basics, including how to clean and dump the gray and black tanks and operate the AC, we encountered serious issues shortly after arriving at our campsite. After dinner, I went to wash the dishes and found that the sink was clogged—the water wouldn’t drain. Soon after, water began bubbling up from the shower pan, accompanied by a strong mildew-like smell throughout the RV. Thankfully, we had friends with us who are experienced campers and were able to help us investigate the issue. They discovered that none of the tanks had been emptied or cleaned prior to our rental. The gauges showed that all tanks were completely full, essentially "flooded" with sewage. It was unsanitary and extremely unpleasant.Once we were finally able to dump the tanks, the smell gradually improved, but the experience was already soured. On top of that, the AC unit did not work properly—it was set to 55 degrees, yet the RV remained warm and uncomfortable. We were so frustrated by the condition of the RV and the lack of basic maintenance that we strongly considered cutting our trip short. I contacted Alfredo during the trip to explain the issues. While he apologized, there was no offer of a meaningful resolution or compensation—only a vague promise of a free night if we booked outside of Outdoorsy, which didn’t feel appropriate given the circumstances. We expected a clean, functional RV and basic support in case something went wrong—especially as first-time renters. Instead, we dealt with sewage issues, a non-working AC, and a lack of accountability. We hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future renters, but we also believe some form of compensation or follow-up is warranted given the inconvenience and health hazard we encountered.
