Melvin is a great vehicle and I highly recommend taking him for your next road trip. His owner is great and easy to communicate with.
We took him to NE Ontario with two kids and had lots of room for all our stuff. Easy to pop up and down if you want to explore.

Derek was fabulous to deal with. The ad is exactly as promised. Fridge worked well, Melvin The Westy was very well stocked - even a netted tent to house a campsite picnic table. There were no mechanical issues, whatsoever, but the large screen at the front of the pop up and the side window screen have a few mosquito entry points that you will want to cover up before going to sleep. We had fun, and the camper is a great travel option!

We rented two vans as two couples from July 4th to the 11th, 2020.We were two couples, rented two Westy's and had a blast. "What you see is what you get..." isn't fair. Derek and Jessica do so much more to add value to your experience and prepare you for your trip including all the kit you need to camp meticulously stored in a sealed bin, plus chairs, a dinner/cooking tent and inflatable kayaks that work wonderfully for a little extra. They add a few things a novice wouldn't think of.Speaking of the road you need to know how to drive a standard transmission. 3 out of 4 of us knew and it still took a little learning with the long stick shift, getting the swing of double clutching to get it in first gear sometimes at a stop and not go into 3rd. They run beautifully. Keep in mind it's a vintage (a wonderful one in my opinion) driving experience, you're good to cruise at 90-100kms max comfortably on the highway. Open all the windows, take in the wind and relax.A notable experience about these Westy's is the vehicle themselves. If you lose your direction or need to talk to someone. Everyone is so happy to see you. The Westfalia is the, funniest, happiest engineered vehicle in the history of the internal combustion engine IMHO. Everyone is so friendly and enthusiastic to talk to you. If you've never driven one you'll be surprised at how people react, even when you're parked or camped.

had an amazing time! dream come true! Derek was kind, helpful and super cool. We really enjoyed living the dream for a weekend camping in a westy. Would do again!

Melvin is a gem! Excellent all round experience traveling with Melvin for a few days. Will definitely be booking again.

We were fortunate to rent Melvin. We had fun when the weather complied. We did have problems with the roof as it was very loud as there was a cross wind and pelting rain.
Once we spoke to Derek and he told us that Melvin does this, he suggested we slow down so the wind wouldn't be an issue, we slowed down considerably and Melvin remained quiet. We traveled to the International Peace Gardens. Our two dogs had fun and enjoyed being able to see out of all the windows. We did not sleep out as we could not get to our camp site. So we stayed in two motels which stirred up a lot of interest in Melvin. Lots of people reminiscing. Derek is very helpful and courteous. We would recommend renting Melvin. Lots of fun.

Very nice experience. Derek & Jess are very friendly. They explained us valuable information.
Melvin ( The van name) includes all the elements ( water, pillows, bedsheet, disches, gas etc...)
We were 3 people inside, it was perfect!

Cannot fault this great little camper or it's owner! Derek was a great host and very helpful in sorting out my queries - even gave me a lift to the airport! Then van itself was very comfortable, kept me dry through a torrential rain storm and mechanically sweet as a nut - highly recommended!

Wonderful experience with Derek. He took the time to explain how everything works in the van and was very prompt in answering any questions we had. The van ran like a charm with no mechanical problems. My only concern was no air-conditioning while driving in 35+ temperatures, but we knew this when we rented the van. But overall, it was quite the roadtrip, and we are glad to have rented "Melvin".
