I am unhappy with both the owner and trailer. The trailer has several faults that the owner is trying to pin on me. First the storage door did not lock and came open during the trip. My personal drill for adjusting the trailer stabilizers fell out. His electrical cord also fell out. I replaced his cord as well as my drill. I had pay a complete kit for $425 plus $50 for his cord. Because I only lost the drill not the entire kit we agreed to $200 that he would return to me. Next, even though the roof vent was fully closed it blew off on the way home. I knew I would not win this argument so I agreed to cover the cost of a new cover which we agreed at $50.
Not my fault. Next the big item is that TWICE the trailer came disconnected from my truck. I have had my own trailer for years as well has hooking up trailers for work. I know know how to hook a trailer up. When you hook up a trailer you need to attach a cord that will pull out and lock up the brakes. Even though I was only going 10-15 mph he is claiming that I destroyed his tires because the brakes did lock up. Maybe it did but neither Fred or myself know that it did. He now wants me to pay him $130 for one tire. This is wrong. I know that I am not at fault. There is something wrong with the trailer and he is continuing to rent it out. A dangerous situation. He is very lucky that I was the pulling his trailer when this happened, someone who knows trailers and how to handle this situation instead of a novice where someone could get killed. So I am out $425 plus the $50 for his cord. Now another $130 for the tire. He will return $200 for the drill less the $50 for the vent which was not my fault which his $150. Now he wants another $130 dollars for the tires. So I get a $20 return. Its just wrong. You really need go get him to replace his receiver on the trailer before something really bad happens.
