It may have been a series of unfortunate events, but we really had a bad experience with our Airstream from Liv Mobil. To his credit, Bill was apologetic and offered us a free rental and refunded part of our total cost, but it was pretty terrible. My recommendation would be to only rent in Denver so you are interacting directly with Bill and make triple sure that all of the mechanical elements have been checked. Here's a bit about our experience:
-we had inconsistent and incomplete information heading into the trip. Most of the time Bill was easy to reach but we didn’t receive complete information about what would and would not be in the trailer. Or any other details related to what to bring (things like a sleeping bag would’ve been helpful)
-The owner's partner in Los Angeles showed up an hour late (hadn’t called...I needed to call him) and needed me to provide the address of the pick up location.
-the tow vehicle (which was different than the Ram I was expecting and rented) was absolutely filthy inside and wreaked of pot and smoke
-a different Airstream showed up than the one we reserved with no mention (we reserved a 25ft international and this was a 23 ft flying cloud). This was fine but we had banked on our twin toddlers’ cribs fitting in the other trailer.
-there were two broken fuses (and no extra fuses), a dead battery (and no extra or tools), the generator gas was almost empty, the propane was almost empty, the thermostat wasn’t accurate if the refrigerator was running, there was only one chalk, no leveling blocks, and many interior components were in surprisingly bad shape for being less than a year old. Some of this is unavoidable but some of it is completely avoidable.
-after being freezing cold two nights in a row (first because of the dead battery and second because of the empty propane and then funky thermostat), we decided to stay with family for the last two nights. We didn’t have the energy to problem solve other problems that were going to arise (especially with two toddlers in tow).
