Before You Tow
1. Know Your Towing Capacity
Ensure your vehicle can handle the 7,725 lbs GVWR and 725 lbs hitch weight of the trailer.
2. Use Proper Hitch Equipment
• Use a weight-distribution hitch for stability.
• Attach safety chains in a crisscross pattern.
• Ensure a brake controller is installed for the trailer’s electric brakes.
3. Inspect Before You Go
• Check tires for proper inflation and wear.
• Test lights (brake, turn, running).
• Ensure the trailer is level, and the hitch is locked.
4. Load Evenly
Distribute weight evenly, with 60% toward the front. Do not exceed the 1,930 lbs CCC.
5. Adjust Mirrors
Install towing mirrors to ensure clear visibility.
Driving Tips
1. Drive Defensively
• Maintain a 5-6 second following distance.
• Watch for blind spots and signal early before turning or changing lanes.
2. Control Your Speed
• Keep speeds between 55-65 mph, depending on local laws.
• Avoid excessive speed to prevent trailer sway.
3. Avoid Sudden Movements
• Brake, accelerate, and steer gradually.
• Avoid sharp turns or abrupt lane changes.
4. Plan Stops and Turns
• Brake early to account for longer stopping distances.
• Make wider turns to prevent curb strikes.
5. Prevent Sway
• If sway occurs, let off the gas and steer straight.
• Use the brake controller lightly if necessary.
6. Handle Hills Carefully
• Use lower gears uphill to prevent strain on your vehicle.
• Use engine braking when descending to save your brakes.
Rest Stops and Parking
1. Stop Regularly
Check the trailer, hitch, and tires every 2-3 hours.
2. Choose Parking Spots Wisely
Opt for pull-through spots to avoid backing up. If backing is needed, use a spotter.
3. Secure the Trailer
• Use wheel chocks when parked.
• Ensure the trailer is stable before detaching.
