If you are new to camping, want a low hassle camper, or just prefer glamping...this camper is for you!It is towable by most midsize trucks and SUVs. We tow with a Jeep Gladiator (6000lbs max) and have no issues. It has a high clearance so it is very forgiving to drive. It even has an electric hitch :)It has tie downs inside for bikes or kayaks.This camper is in high demand, so unfortunately any requests to cancel days after you trip has started will be declined.

That may seem expensive, but that is a one way trip. Given that I have that to drop-off and pick-up the camper, it is actually $2.50/mile. What could be better than renting this Airstream Basecamp 20x, brand new with all the amenities you would need for Dry camping and taking it to the San Juan mountains of Colorado for the fall colors! The rig worked great, has everything you need included comfy bedding and chairs. Phil was so easy to work with and responsive as we arranged for pick up

From the pick up to the drop off, the whole experience was fantastic. Philip was super helpful with set up and explanation of all the features of the Airstream. It was clean and very comfortable- made the trip so much better! I highly recommend.

Q.How good is the air conditioner/heater?
A.
First, the AC MUST have an electric hook-up to run. The AC can generally cool it down about 10 degrees from the outside temperature. The heater is good and has kept us toasty even when the temperature was near freezing. But in both cases, mileage may vary on other conditions including how much you open and close the door, cloud/ shade cover, precipitation, etc.
Q.Can I tow it with my truck?
A.
I don't know :) Please look up your truck's exact specifications on manufacturers website (pay close attention to the trim level!). The trailer is about 5000lbs fully loaded, but make sure you can tow at least 6000lbs if you are towing the mountains (lower oxygen levels in the air lowers the towing capacity).
Q.Can you boondock in it? How is it powered?
A.
Yes! Most electrical (lights, refrigerator water pump, etc) is powered through a lithium ion battery that is charged through solar panels. If you are using a lot of power or you are boondocked in a shady area or it is a cloudy day, the battery can be charged through the electrical hook-up to the truck. Heat and hot water are run off propane (two 20lb tanks). You may need to refill the tanks every few days if you run it a lot. Microwave and AC MUST have an electric hook-up!
Q.How clean does it have to be when I return it to avoid the additional cleaning fee?
A.
We thoroughly clean between rentals. However, last summer we had two separate incidents of renters apparently not knowing how a toilet works. We are just a family of two working adults with two small children (we have cleaned up enough poop) that just want to meet good people and to make a nice camper accessible to similar families. We just don't want to clean up your poop :)
