Enjoy this unique opportunity to experience a very well cared for vintage Volkswagon Westfalia full camper with manual transmission. Spent the past 10 years refurbishing, replacing and totally upgrading this beast to enhance your Westfalia camping adventure. New GO Westy 2.3 engine, and all suspension, bearings struts you name it. Upgraded front chair captain seats, new upholstery throughout. New tent and canvas sides with easy up struts. Upgraded interior and exterior lights. Working stove and sink. Upgraded South African lights for better visibility. Super fun camp vehicle for the whole family a single or couple. Great mobile retreat for writers and creatives. It cruises 60-65MPH mph on freeways but drivers must be able to drive a VW stick shift and enjoy the slow lane in windy mountain uphill grades:) I am open to one way rentals to various points around California where there is an airport.
8 day minimum rental for trips from San Diego to Bay area or similar distances. 3 day minimum for local trips.
100 mi a day included. .75 a mi for overages
Carlsbad, Cardiff by the Sea, Mission Bay, Campland by the Bay, Palomar Mountain, San Onofre, Santa Cruz, Monterrey, Big Sur, Lake Tahoe. We had a great trip from San Diego to Jalama Beach in the Gatecrasher! My family of four slept comfortably inside and the awning provided great shade when we were ready to escape the sun. The van ran great and we had no mechanical issues at all. You can tell that Ian has put in a lot of work and love into this van- and we highly recommend renting the Gatecrasher.

Ian was incredibly helpful and kind - allowing us to borrow some needed gear for our trip. The Gatecrasher was everything we hoped it would be; fun to drive and spacious for 4 friends traveling the coast for surf.
