Provides detailed instructions and support

Mike and Steph are responsive, flexible with delays/schedules, and give thorough explanations and tips for driving/systems. They also stock the camper with thoughtful extras (like toiletries, coffee press, gold panning pans) and respond quickly to questions.

Drives smoothly on varied terrain

Blue handles Dalton Highway, gravel roads, and all weather conditions excellently, feeling easy to drive despite its size. It runs like a champ, has a low profile, and is easy to set up/takedown. Well-equipped with a comfy bed, kitchen, heater, and toilet.

Blue is awesome. Drove fabulous. Couldn't even tell there was a camper on top. Made it up the Dalton then back to Denali with no problems. Makes me want to trade the f150 for a f250. Anyway Mike was fabulous, explained everything. Couldn't have been a better experience-except we ran out of propane at the end but it was cold a night and I cooked, so it was our fault. We had Blue for 8 nights.

Hosts are fantastic. The camper was clean and well stocked on necessities. This camper was easy for me as a single person to set up and take down. Everything worked as expected. I will be using them again in the near future.

Working with the hosts was great- very responsive to messages and flexible when we ran into some flight delays. They have suggestions on itineraries and have everything you need included with the camper - camp chairs/table, cooking stuff, towels, campfire supplies, and more. That was great! We literally had everything we needed except for one small cooler we borrowed from a friend so our six pack would be ice cold. To my surprise, we needed the heater a couple of times overnight so that was a pretty great thing to have. Driving this camper was also no problem (admittedly, my husband did all the driving), but after a little time getting used to such a large truck, he said it wasn't a big deal. It ran like a champ and we never had any concerns despite its age. Having a large gas tank is really nice too. Being unrestricted from gravel roads gave us endless options. We ended up taking it on the Denali Hwy and were able to camp along the way which was an amazing experience. We didn't go far off the main road, but did take a wrong turn that was very rough but it wasn't really a concern. The biggest challenge we had was going in reverse or turning around (not a limitation of the camper of course, but just a learning curve thing). Setup and takedown is super easy and the "pop-up" nature of it probably makes it easier to handle than other camper trucks. We liked that low profile b/c we never had to worry about being too tall. It also has cassette toilet which looked fine although we opted not to use it - BLM sites have great facilities and in-between we just did as campers do. It is an older camper and we had a few issues with the camper itself, the major one being that the fridge didn't work well, but that wasn't really an issue until it got hot while we were in Fairbanks. If we had known, a larger cooler and some ice would've been all that was needed and it would've been totally fine. But this would definitely not deter me from renting it again and is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. I was a little nervous with this type of "lodging" and transportation, but all I can say is DO IT! We put on just over 600 miles in 7 days and loved that this allowed us to be totally flexible and make our itinerary based on the weather. We only booked one thing ahead of time (Denali NP) and it was no problem at any of the BLM sites we saw. Such a great experience.

I can't thank Mike and Stephine enough for turning my Alaska trip into an unforgettable adventure. From the planning stage to the journey itself, they offered invaluable suggestions for exploring Alaska within my timeframe. I embarked on a road trip starting from Fairbanks, driving down Richardson Highway, and camped at some beautiful spots. Tangle Lake at Paxton was a highlight! Then it was off to Valdez, where I caught a ferry to Whittier. Along the way, I had the opportunity to explore Kenai Fjords National Park in Seward. I even made a pit stop in Anchorage to hang out with a fellow traveler I met. And of course, the majestic Denali National Park was an absolute highlight. As my trip wound down, I soaked in the stunning fall foliage up Steese Highway. Throughout the journey, Mike and Stephine were super communicative and helpful, always there for my questions. The handoff of the camper truck, "Blue," was seamless. And Blue itself? A champ in all weather conditions and road types. Huge thanks to Mike, Stephine, and Blue for making my Alaskan adventure truly epic!

Arctic Overland did help us in a great way when we had issues in the middle of nowhere. The camper truck is equipped with everything it needs to have a good time exploring the less crowded places of Alaska and very robust and sturdy - exactly right for the Dalton road.

Out here in the wide, untamed beauty of Alaska, Steph and Mike built a life rooted in movement, resilience, and a shared love of adventure. From long summer rides under endless daylight to winter drives across frozen landscapes, they’ve always believed the best stories begin where the road gets rough. That spirit became Arctic Overland—more than a business, it’s an invitation. Their fleet of rugged, thoughtfully equipped vehicles is designed for travelers who want to experience Alaska beyond the guidebooks. Whether it’s chasing the northern lights, navigating remote roads and locations, every rental is a gateway to something real. Steph brings the eye for detail and storytelling; Mike brings the mechanical grit and deep knowledge of the land. Together, they’ve created something honest and dependable—built on trust, experience, and a belief that adventure should be accessible. Arctic Overland isn’t just about getting there. It’s about how it feels along the way.
