Hi all.
We started On the Trail Adventures Inc for outdoor enthusiasts like us. Our love of the mountains, backpacking, surfing, kayaking and pretty much anything outside cities inspired us to build rustic vans and share them with the public. Rob is a California boy while Luz hales from Colombia. We are both health care professionals, grandparents, trail bums and mountain goats (not necessarily in that order). We have melded our lifelong hobbies into our van building: carpentry, wood carving, graphic design, backpacking, mosaic tiling, sewing and more. Looking forward to meeting you, and you meeting our Van :)
Cya soon,
Rob and Luz

My grandson and I loved our first ever camping adventure together in this cabin on wheels. The ease of driving and parking the van was a breeze. Rob and Luz couldn’t have been nicer. We definitely plan to take another camping trip and will definitely rent The Bear Necessities cabin/van again.
Rob and Luz have included everything you could need for any adventure.
The star gazing from the rooftop was such an added bonus!

My daughter picked out this van because of its obvious charm - a mobile cabin in the woods! We had a wonderful 4 days. Everything we needed was there, using the van was simple - and if it wasn't, Robert had detailed everything in a set of videos loaded to a small tablet - the van was a breeze to drive, and having a stove was an unexpected delight. I have thought this was an unnecessary luxury until I had fresh bread with my eggs and coffee in the morning. I appreciated the length of the van as at 19ft it was parked easily and permitted at 'tent only' sites in the park. Thanks for a fun trip!

The trip on Rob’s van camper was one for the books! Everything was thought of and they were even able to install a third seat for our car seat and provided some fun coloring books for the trip! Highly recommend 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Rob and Luz were amazing hosts and their van is a work of art. It is an Airbnb on wheels, I’ve never seen anything like it. They thought of everything you could possibly need to ride in style and comfort. Fully functioning shower, toilet, kitchen, heating, air, power, water, shade, chairs, tables, all the necessities and more. They are pet friendly and let us bring our pitbull on his first camping trip. The best feature is the wooden deck they built. It’s on top of the van and is the chillest spot ever and will make whatever view you have even better. Your camping neighbors will be envious. 10/10 will rent again.

¿Tienes alguna pregunta?Get answers directly from the host
Q.Is your van difficult to drive?
A.
If you can drive a car you can drive our van. We also have a rear view camera that gives you a better view of whats behind you than you have in your own car.
Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
Normal pick-up and drop-off times are between 11am and 4pm. We can discuss flexibility with those times ( depends on our current schedule at that time).
Q.Is it tricky to operate the different systems in the van?
A.
Not at all. We have a YouTube walkthrough/ coaching video you can watch before renting. We also have added an Amazon tablet with 1-minute instructional videos that will be going with you on your trip. You can reference it at any time on your trip (no internet connection needed).
Q.Can I bring my pet on the trip?
A.
There is an add-on fee of $78.00 per pet. + $10/day for trips over 10 days.
ATTENTION: We take great care in keeping our van clean and fresh for all our guests. If the van is returned with any unpleasant odor from urine or feces, mud mess, or excessive fur all over, a $150.00 extensive cleaning fee is charged. There are lint rollers, brushes, and cleaning supplies onboard.
Please also note that any physical damage to the van caused by your pet will be appraised separately.
