Designed to take two people just about anywhere, Gus the Adventure Bus is the perfect combination of RV and car.It’s easy to drive: Gus is equipped with the most up-to-date safety features, including a rearview camera, blind-spot detection, cruise control, and large mirrors. With heated, adjustable seats, climate control, and a bluetooth entertainment system, long road trips are a breeze.Once you park for the night, Gus has just about all the comforts of home. You can sleep comfortably on the full-sized memory foam mattress, cook meals on the integrated propane stove, relax on the bench seat, or swivel the front seats around and turn Gus into a little living room.Gus has a 300 amp-hour lithium battery bank, which is powered by two solar panels on the roof and a heavy duty alternator. Any time the engine is on, or the van is in the sun, the batteries are charging. 300 amp-hours is a ton of power -- we have yet to deplete the batteries below 60% on multi-day camping trips! The batteries power all the lights and fans, as well as the electrical outlets, refrigerator, furnace, and water heater.There’s a 25-gallon fresh water tank, which provides more than enough water for basic needs over a few days. It feeds the kitchen sink and the heated outdoor shower using an electric pump. On cold nights, an integrated, gasoline-powered furnace heats the van up nicely while barely sipping fuel from the van’s gas tank. And on warm days, the two ceiling fans can circulate air quickly, efficiently cooling the van.Every rental comes with basic kitchen supplies, towels, camping supplies. If you have a pet on the unit without approval there will be a $200 fine that will be claimed from your security deposit

How do the electric, water and sewage hook up work while setting up at the campground?
A.
Gus has a shore power cable that will plug into a 30 amp outlet at a campground. We've also included a 15-amp adapter so you can plug into a standard household outlet. But with the onboard 220-amp alternator and solar power, you'll seldom need to hook up to shore power. There is no city water hookup: instead, Gus has a 25-gallon water tank and a hose to fill the tank with.

Are there any special tricks and tips that would help with operating the RV easily?
A.
Most renters find that Gus is pretty easy to drive, especially with the included blind spot detection and rearview camera. Regardless, we give every renter an orientation that includes a short drive through the neighborhood. The most important thing is to understand the vehicle's height - 9'6" - so it can't go through drive-thru lines or into a parking garage.

Are you dog friendly?
A.
Yes! We love all dogs. For maintenance reasons, we require an additional nonrefundable $20/night fee, and reserve the right to deduct any damage from your security deposit.

Can we use the awning?
A.
The awning costs almost $2000, and if it's not set up exactly correctly, it can cause significant damage to the van during even the slightest wind. For that reason, we generally don't allow renters to use the awning without an additional security deposit. We do include an EZ-UP shade with rentals, though.

Our mom had planned to retire in a converted school bus. She saved up just enough to finally do it before getting diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer in 2018. She worked her entire life and seldom took vacations, banking on being able to retire and live a permanent vacation. She never got to.
That never sat right with us. Everybody should get the chance to travel in their lives - you shouldn't have to save up your entire life to do it. So Sarah and I took the money she saved for her school bus and bought this van with the intention of sharing it with the world and giving other people (and ourselves, obviously) the chance to travel.
