As soon as the host confirmed my reservation he was on the phone with me asking if we could cut out Outdoorsy.com by cancelling the reservation and moving forward with a cash deal. The cash deal he offered me included no discount, he wanted the entire price with taxes and transactional fees paid in cash and when I advised my concern that there was no advantage to me to pay the fee in cash because it took away my consumer protection he then tried to discount it by $27 dollars. What a joke. I should have cancelled then but went forward in good faith that he would still commit to the transaction through Outdoorsy. On the day of the reservation, the host showed up with the trailer as promised. There was an assumption that there would be water hookups at the state park and that was not the case. We told the host that he would have to fill the water tank so that we could have functioning water for the toilet, sink and shower all weekend. He advised he did not have time to fill the tank for us but gave permission for us to pull the trailer to the front of the park ourselves and fill the tank and then bring it back to the campsite and set it up ourselves. After pulling the trailer to the front of the park and trying to put water in the tank, we then realized there was no water cap on the low point water spout and all the water we were trying to fill was just spilling onto the street. We called the host and asked where he kept the cap and we were told he had no idea what cap we were talking about and that he never removed the cap and personally had always camped himself at campsites that offered water hook ups at the site. We then spent the next two hours calling around to various hardware / RV Supply stores ourselves to try and locate a cap and were unable to locate one. Eventually we just pulled the trailer back to the campsite and sat Thursday through Sunday without any functioning water. The host did apologize for the inconvenience and through text communicated he would offer a discount for the trouble. On the day of pickup I messaged the host the trailer was cleaned up and ready for pickup, I let him know we were down at the lake to cool off and could meet him back at the campsite for a final walk through. I received no response. I sent another message to the host that we had been using the toilet and rinsing the bowl out each time manaully with a cupfuls of water, again no response. On our way back from the lake, we saw the host driving out of the campsite with the trailer. At that time, I received a message advising he picked up the trailer and apologized again for the troubles of having no water all weekend and that he would certainly be offering a discount after he had time to walk through the trailer. I received no further messages from the host until two days later when he told me that everything in the trailer looked fine but he had to 'extensive clean' the toilet tank because someone had gone number 2. While my family members are not admitting to going number 2 in a toilet they thought they would be able to use, I find it very hard to belive this took extensive cleaning knowing we dumped a five gallon bucket of water down the toilet to ensure there was water in the tank. He then offered me a measly 50 bucks for my troubles and then never sent the 50 bucks. AVOID RENTING FROM THIS FAMILY AT ALL COSTS unless you want to rent from a host with poor communication and a trailer filled with his personal family photos. What a horrible experience. I paid $877 for a three night rental and dealt with too much BS.
