Fully loaded with a rooftop tent and a complete set of camping gear, this crossover handled the open road like a charm. Whether I was cruising the Icefields Parkway near Jasper, navigating coastal curves on the Sunshine Coast, or reaching the farthest corners of Vancouver Island — Kaslo never skipped a beat.The included Thule Tepui rooftop tent made setting up camp a breeze. Up in minutes and high off the ground, it was a dream for me, especially when I was cautious in bear country or simply chasing better views. And as someone who's 5 feet 11 inches (1.81 m) tall, I can personally attest that I slept incredibly well in it every night of the trip! With everything from cookware to camping chairs onboard — and thoughtful extras like paper towels and garbage bags — the only things I really needed to bring were food and my personal items.And a huge shout-out to Dani, the owner, who made the whole rental process incredibly smooth. He was super relaxed and thoughtful, making everything easy-going from start to finish. This really contributed to the overall relaxed vibe of my trip, taking away any rental worries.Fuel efficiency? Even while packed for adventure, Kaslo achieved an impressive 8.9 L/100 km, only creeping up slightly in city traffic. Dani's Journey proved not only economical on fuel but also on ferry costs — its modest footprint was a huge plus when I was island-hopping.Despite the gear, space was never an issue. For a mid-sized crossover, Kaslo truly punches above its weight in comfort and practicality. From alpine stops in Golden to the shores of Ucluelet and Victoria, this rig made every mile enjoyable — even on winding mountain passes.If you're looking for a hassle-free, go-anywhere setup that lets you travel light without sacrificing anything, this is it.
