Hardworking Family Makes Hard Earned Money Renting RVs With Outdoorsy

The couple loves to have fun and has owned and enjoyed their RV since 2005. In 2017, the Maust family decided they would like to upgrade from their toy hauler fifth-wheel to a class A motorhome, but were concerned about the cost. Aaron’s experience in investing came in handy and after running the numbers, he decided to use his new RV to generate income. “It has created a new business for our family which will continue to grow, and allowed us to enjoy our RV more knowing it’s not costing us a fortune.”

As Aaron put it, “Outdoorsy allowed us to turn the motorhome into an asset.” By renting the RV out when not in use to cover costs, Aaron has turned a depreciating asset into a profitable venture. At first, Aaron shared his RV with a few sites. Now, Aaron prefers to only work with Outdoorsy. “Outdoorsy has no equal at this point,” he says. “They’ve built a positive and extremely interactive community of owners, which is awesome. Outdoorsy is always listening and coming up with new product ideas to improve the platform.”

Aaron and his family are very happy with his new RV and thrilled that Outdoorsy has given them the financial opportunity to camp the way they want to — spending time with loved ones and creating memories in their own 2008 Class A Fleetwood Fiesta.

One blooper turned wonderful memory? “We took the RV to a waterfall in Oregon and we had to go over the smallest bridge I have ever seen. Cars actually had to back up to let us through. I wasn’t laughing then, but it was absolute comedy looking at the expressions on people’s faces as we approached the bridge.”

So far, Aaron has made about $3,400 over the past few months. He says that a big ‘Ah-hah’ moment came for him when he earned his first paycheck and didn’t have to break his back to earn it. He quickly decided to continue growing his business. “We are actually in the process of purchasing another RV now and putting them in an LLC,” Aaron said. They plan to create a Facebook page and vehicle wraps for marketing. “We are also looking into managing other people’s RVs via connections we’ve made in Outdoorsy’s community.”

He shared a few tips for people wanting to get into the rental business. “Create great pics of your RV and respond to requests instantly,” he advised. “You’ll attract the best renters this way.”
