Meet Craig Niedbala of Craig’s Camper Sharing

The very definition of a go-getter, Craig Niedbala couldn’t be any busier. Niedbala works as a full-time mechanical foreman at BNSF Railway and as a part-time Zamboni driver. Additionally, he rents out cars on Turo, so it was only natural that he should branch out and add camper rentals to his money-making ventures.

Saving customers a few bucks

Obviously, Niedbala loves making some extra money, but he also enjoys saving his customers money and time whenever possible.

“I have an easy rental process and low fees,” Niedbala says. “My typical camper handoff takes 15 minutes. I provide a clean and ready camper, no frills. This means I can offer low-cost options for people trying to have an affordable vacation.”

One of the reasons he chose Outdoorsy, he says, was to offer an affordable product. “They have less restrictions on the age of units. This allows me to get lower-cost units and charge less per day, increasing my renters’ savings and increasing my rental utilization.”

Filling his bank account

Wondering if Niedbala actually makes a profit offering his customers such good deals? Don’t worry! This clever entrepreneur has made around $10,000 in just 3 months listing his camper van fleet on Outdoorsy

“I currently have six campers and plan to double in size for next camping season,” he says. “I may even add a couple big motorhomes.”

Making smart choices

While motorhome rentals might be on the horizon, right now Niedbala is sticking to renting out popular pop-ups and camper vans. This is a very strategic, well-thought-out decision—one he was happy to share his thought process on.

“The campers I picked were chosen for their ease of use,” he explains. “Most renters haven’t used an RV before, so I want to make their vacation easy and carefree by providing units that are easy to set up and take down, and also easy to tow.”

This logic seems to be working well for him.

Loving Outdoorsy

All in all, Niedbala seems quite impressed with the Outdoorsy platform.

“I’ve already recommended Outdoorsy to a few people, and even helped them set up camper rentals,” he says. “I really appreciate the high profit margins that can be earned through Outdoorsy, and that owners can have family adventures when their RV isn’t being rented.”
