Brandon Meier is a fun-loving guy who loves to go camping with his wife and occasionally his two nieces. Not only does he enjoy camping himself, but this entrepreneur also makes it his business to share this exciting activity with others. “I used to work at an RV dealership as a salesperson,” Brandon tells us.
However, the man didn’t stop with RV sales. While he was working at the dealership, a customer gave him an idea. “I sold the same Aspen Trail model to a guy three times in a row,” Brandon recalls. “I asked why, and he told me about the outdoors. That’s when I started renting.”
As most people do, Brandon started with a single RV. “I bought a large unit for cheap,” he says. However, he soon decided renting a single RV wasn’t for him. “In my opinion, renting on Outdoorsy scales well, but one unit isn’t really worth it,” he explains. So Brandon tackled the problem by expanding his fleet.
At this point, Brandon’s rental fleet consists of 7 units: 5 travel trailers and 2 Class C RVs. Because he is based in warm and sunny Florida, Brandon is able to rent year-round, and that is exactly what he does. “I’ve sent out hundreds of rentals and have made around $100K through Outdoorsy,” he tells us. “About 80% of my business comes from Outdoorsy.”
This is great because Brandon seems pretty satisfied with his Outdoorsy experience. He says he feels safe renting through Outdoorsy. “The background checks and renter verification help a lot,” he explains. “I have recommended Outdoorsy to friends. It’s a great side gig.”
Of course, the money made isn’t the end-all-be-all, and Brandon happily shares that there are other things he hopes his RVs will do. “I hope my RVs help renters have a great vacation,” he tells us. “Some of my favorite renters were a little girl and her parents who rented my motorhome to go to Disney for the first time. She told me all about it when they came back.”
