How to celebrate an RV Easter

Spring is here, and Easter is coming! That said, there’s no better time to hit the road and stop to smell the wildflowers! Here’s how you can celebrate and RV Easter.

Let’s talk all things Easter weekend:

  • Where to go
  • What to do
  • What to eat

Where to go

There’s no better place to celebrate Easter than where the flowers bloom. Lucky for you, there are plenty of beautiful and blooming places across the U.S.! Here are a few.

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve

In Lancaster, California lies the 1,780-acre poppy reserve. Here, you’ll be stunned by the vibrant shades of orange and red that cover the landscape in the spring. Wander around along the Antelope Loop Trail and through the poppy reserve to take it all in.

Ennis Bluebonnet Trail, Texas

The entire state of Texas is blooming with bluebonnets come springtime. Most known for their bluebonnet blooms, however, is the city of Ennis. Home to the “Official Texas Bluebonnet Trail” and designated the “Official Bluebonnet City of Texas,” Ennis is the place to be. For the entire month of April, you can experience a showcase of more than 40 miles of mapped driving Bluebonnet Trails.

Biltmore Blooms, North Carolina

Stroll through a garden of spring blooms in Asheville, North Carolina. From April 1 to May 27, you can grab a ticket to Biltmore Blooms where you can wine taste, tour the Biltmore Estate (aka America’s Largest Home), explore the gardens, and more.

From the East Coast to the West, there are plenty of places to spend your Easter weekend. Find the best place near you to see spring bloom!

What to do

If you’re spending Easter on the road, there are still plenty of traditional activities to be done, all from the comfort of your rental RV.

RV Easter Egg Hunt

Hide some eggs around your campsite and let the hunt begin! You can even hide some eggs along a camp trail for some added difficulty. Just have someone hit the trail a little early to do the hiding — bonus points if they also dress as the Easter bunny.

Egg decorating

One of my favorite past times is dying eggs at Easter. And it’s easy to do wherever you are!

All you need is:

  • hollowed eggs
  • food coloring
  • white vinegar or lemon juice
  • optional: stickers, paint, or additional decorative items

To dye your Easter eggs

Step one: Hollow out the eggs

Before you dye your eggs, you’ll want to make sure you they are hollow to prevent spills and spoilage.

Step two: Make the dye

Mix 1 teaspoon vinegar with 1/4 teaspoon of food colouring and 3/4 of a cup of water in a glass.

Step three: Dye the eggs

Gently place your eggs in the dye mixture using tongs or a spoon. Let them sit submerged for 2 to 5 minutes, depending on your desired color.

Step four: Let the eggs dry

Before adding more colors or doing some more decorating, set your eggs aside to dry.

What to eat

A slow cooker recipe is perfect for Easter in an RV because you can leave your meal to cook while you hunt for eggs.

Balsamic Pork Loin

Image and recipe: koa.com

Pork loin is a fan favorite and goes well with any sides.

Ingredients

  • 1 or 2 boneless pork tenderloins
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • ½ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon tamari or soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Grease the slow cooker.
  2. Add salt and pepper to the pork loin(s) and put in the cooker.
  3. Mix your other ingredients in a small bowl to make your sauce.
  4. Pour sauce onto the pork.
  5. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
  6. Once cooked, place on serving platter and drizzle remaining sauce on top.

Serve with some mashed potatoes or other festive sides and enjoy!
