I had the best week away in Mary Rose! Matt was really helpful and accommodating, helping me to make my trip work quite last-minute, and he gave me lots of really helpful recommendations. Mary Rose is a beautiful and very-thoughtfully set up van with everything I could have needed. She was very comfortable to stay in and straightforward to handle. I would definitely recommend her for a trip away!

Paul's van was the best! It was my favorite campervan that I have rented and I've done trips in Iceland, Ireland, and Switzerland. The setup inside the van is perfect and the bed was also very comfortable. I've never gotten such good sleep in a campervan, which is very important if you want to enjoy any trip. Paul was just a text away if I needed anything and he gave me some great recommendations. The van pickup and drop off was simple and easy. Paul gave such good instructions at pickup, I didn't have any questions during my trip. He also provides a manual for the van, which was nice to have if needed. Embarrassingly, I caused some damage to the exterior of the van on the morning of my last full day. I called Paul about it and since it was still okay to drive he told me not to worry about it and just try to enjoy the rest of my trip. That made me feel better and I ended up having a fun last day. Paul's a great host and if I'm ever back in New Zealand for a campervan trip, I'll definitely be renting Paul's Kowhai van again!

When I was searching the many camper-van hire options, I kept coming back to Quirky Campers and I am so glad I did! My friend and I hired 'Vallery' - a camper van with artistic flair! The two bed camper (one large queen-size bed and smaller single bed) was equipped with everything we needed including cooking pots and utensils, super comfortable pillows and doonas, deck chairs for lazing on, towels, fully functional camp kitchen, 'proper' coffee with stove top percolator, USB ports, power-points for laptop charging, and creatively decked out with artwork in every corner, draw and cupboard! And not to forget the lighting! - stars on the ceiling, dimmable lights ... yep, Vallery has it all! AND is super easy to drive, handles the roads well - not too big for tackling windy NZ roads. The booking process was quick and easy and Simon was great to deal with. If we were unsure about how anything worked, he was there to help. I'm already planning my next trip and will definitely book through Quirky Campers again - can't recommend if highly enough!

Great weekend getaway in Tieke! The van had everything we needed and was super easy to drive. Super comfy bed, blackout curtains, solar panel to power fridge and lights, etc. Stephen and Susan gave us a great overview before we headed off. Highly recommend!

We spent 6 nights in Juniper and had a fantastic time exploring the north island. She’s well equipped with everything you could need, and very comfortable to spend time in. Pick up and drop-off was super easy with Kim and everything we needed to know was shown to us. Would highly recommend a trip in Juniper!

Merci à Quirky et Stephen qui ont été très disponibles ! Nous avons vécu une très belle expérience à bord du Kakariki. Il a su nous faire découvrir sur ces deux mois la beauté de la Nouvelle Zélande. Fiable et très confortable, ce van a tout le nécessaire pour vivre une chouette aventure !

We had a wonderful trip with Mary Rose! The owners were very helpful and accommodating with our one way itinerary and the van was clearly built with attention to detail. It was stocked with everything we needed - dishes, cooking equipment, a French press for coffee, and even a nice little mesh screen cover for the sliding door opening so we could hang out in the van with the breeze coming in but no sand flies! We particularly appreciated the super comfy bed, the back up camera, and the solar panel / battery setup - we didn’t ever have to plug the van in for power. Pick up and drop off were super easy as well. We’d definitely rent Mary Rose again!

Our stay in Mary Rose was an absolute joy! This is such a thoughtfully designed and well-maintained van, you can really feel the effort and care that Matt has put into building the van out, and the little touches that make it an enjoyable place to call home away from home. The diesel heater was very welcome on cold mornings, and the very spacious fixed bed was a treat. There is a good amount of storage both in the living area and in the "garage" area beneath the bed (accessed from the back). Matt was kind and generous during both pick up and drop off, providing us with loads of helpful tips for our trip, and was keen to hear what we had got up to in the van. We had a lovely time!

My daughter and I had the absolute pleasure of driving Petal for 2 weeks in February. She was so comfortable and easy to drive. The bed was super comfortable, and she was the cutest van in all the camp sites (freedom camping and regular campsites). Petal was reliable, had all the amenities we needed, and we became quite attached to her! Shannon was super nice and very quick to respond if we had questions. I highly recommend Petal – she was a big part of our adventure!!

Had the best time using Quirky Campers and specifically with Sylvie the campervan. Easy booking processes with frequent email reminders. It is much more personable with the owners coming to drop it off and explain things in person, as well as being easily contactable when we had some issues needing a mechanic! Absolutely wonderful experience thank you

Sunny is incredible. Fully reliable for a month in the South Island, exceptionally well thought through and equipped, spacious (plenty of room for myself and my 6’3 partner! He could stand up fully with no issues- hooray!), and a very comfortable bed.Because quirky campers aren’t a mainstream brand like Maui or Jucy, you get a better van. Better equipment, it’s more thought through, more loved, and truly unique. Quirky campers have also been amazing to contact throughout the rental process, providing all the answers no matter how many questions we asked! Super friendly and super helpful staff, especially James who gave quick and informative responses to all emails!

The van was as promised, and very nice that the owners provided some snacks for on the road.
It is however a campervan that has + 260.000 km on the road, and was a bit cramped for us (2 adults for 2 weeks) at times. Not a huge amount of storage space, but again the owners were nice enough to let us leave our travel luggage with them and store our clothes in Dorothy's storage spaces.

Dorothy does have a cosier layout, and while that suits lots of travellers well, we understand that can feel a little snug at times. We also appreciate the feedback on the cost of replacing the towels you left behind. Unfortunately the cost and time involved in replacing lost items does add up which reflects what you were charged.

Takahē was such a rad van to rent!! It's perfect for a solo traveler and so easy to get around with. It is the ultimate New Zealand cruise van with all the basic essentials you would need. I loved rolling up to campgrounds and showing her off with all her rad decals and was approached several times with a load of compliments. Whenever I am back in NZ then I'll definitely be taking Takahē for a spin again!!

Milford was a home away from home. We absolutely loved our stay, the bed was one of the comfiest I've slept in, amazing solar power meaning we didn't need to book powered sites and the homey interiors meant we didn't feel like we had to sacrifice any of the creature comforts. James was also a great help, easily contactable before, during and after our booking. We'll be sending all our friends James & Milford's way.
