Responsive yet lacks safety accountability
Many praised Jackie's kindness & responsiveness. However, after a major safety incident, he was absent, provided an unlisted pick-up address, and did not accept responsibility or communicate safety improvements.
Capable on diverse terrains
Praised for handling steep inclines and BLM roads. However, a rooftop tent detached due to wind, and reviewers noted overdue oil changes, low tire tread, and a broken awning zipper.

1.0HUGE SAFETY ISSUES — RENT WITH EXTREME CAUTION Our trip began with optimism and ended in a frightening, traumatic incident. I was traveling as a single parent with my teenage son, and the experience raised serious concerns about the safety and maintenance of this vehicle and the overall rental process. Vehicle Safety and Maintenance Concerns On our final day, while driving across a bridge in high winds, the rooftop tent detached completely from the Bronco. One roof‑rack bar broke, while the other released cleanly with no visible damage, suggesting the tent separated far too easily. We were extremely fortunate the tent blew off cleanly rather than dragging or destabilizing the vehicle. We removed the tent from the roadway ourselves in high winds and heavy traffic to prevent it from striking other vehicles, which put us at personal risk. With the tent gone and both of us shaken, we had to sleep inside the vehicle in a Walmart parking lot instead of at our planned campsite. We reported the incident immediately and expected the owner to meet us at drop‑off. He did not. Initial communication was kind, but afterward he remained distant and did not provide reassurance about future safety measures. Additional maintenance issues were evident: the awning case zipper was broken and held closed with bungee cords which likely contributed to wind drag and tent release, the oil‑change sticker indicated the vehicle was roughly 10,000 miles overdue, and the front tire tread was very low for winter conditions. Pick‑Up and Drop‑Off Location Issues The actual pick‑up location was not the one listed on Outdoorsy. Instead, a different address was provided shortly before arrival. The owner was not present at pick‑up. The parking lot was poorly lit, making it difficult and unsafe to document the vehicle’s condition in the dark. Instructions stated to leave the neighborhood immediately “to avoid disturbing the neighbours,” but the environment itself appeared unsafe. At drop‑off, while we were taking photos around 10:30 a.m., a man began throwing rocks and vapes at vehicles in the lot, including those owned by the host. Construction workers called the police, who arrived and arrested him. Our Uber driver later confirmed this was a high‑risk area and questioned why we were there. Because of the police incident, we were unable to finish taking or uploading our photos. The owner was again not present, even after being informed of the rooftop‑tent failure. Lack of Accountability and Follow‑Up I asked the owner directly what steps would be taken to prevent this from happening again and whether he accepted any responsibility for the condition of the vehicle. I did not receive answers to these questions beyond being told he would cooperate with the Outdoorsy claims process. I was charged the full $1,500 deductible. Given that the owner has multiple Broncos listed with similar rooftop setups, I expected to hear that: All vehicles had been inspected and reinforced, Worn aftermarket components had been removed or replaced, Clear guidance would be provided about safe wind‑speed limits for rooftop equipment. None of this was communicated. Overall Assessment Based on my experience, I cannot recommend renting from Jackie Wang. While we had an enjoyable start, I left the trip with no confidence that steps have been taken to prevent similar safety failures for future renters. If you choose to rent despite these concerns, be aware of the risks, secure the highest insurance coverage available, avoid leaving valuables in the rooftop tent, and consider whether the setup is appropriate for traveling with children.

5.0This was a great vehicle for me to get out and explore the National Parks! Sleeping was great. The first night I arrived in Zion and popped out the awning to cook dinner and it was great!

5.0Jackie is a great host and this vehicle is worth every dollar. Had such an amazing trip and the ease of setting up the tent topped it off.
