There are as many as 400 private parks in Texas as per the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO). But not all RV parks are created equal. For the best camping experience, you must book sites on the top-rated campgrounds.

So there’s some research and prospecting to be done.

But you can skip that part as we have done the research for you! We’ve handpicked the 12 best RV parks in Texas for your next RV trip. These are selected based on their location, amenities, ratings, and customer satisfaction.

How Much Do RV Parks Cost Per Month in Texas?

A pressing question many RVers have (especially those coming from out of state) is how much RV parks in Texas cost.

Public campgrounds usually do not allow campers to book sites for more than 14 days. But private campgrounds do. And you can expect a far reduced rate for monthly reservations. Generally, the RV Parks cost between $700-$1500 per month per RV site.

Best Value for Money RV Park in Texas – Mill Creek Ranch Resort

Mill Creek Ranch Resort – Canton

Located in Eastern Texas in the city of Canton, the Mill Creek Ranch Resort is a camping paradise with top-of-the-line amenities. This is a kind of place where you can lose yourself in 200 acres of serene countryside setting.

The resort has full hook-up sites on level concrete pads that can accommodate both Class A coaches and pop-up RVs. You’ll find water, sewer, and 20/30/50-amps power hook-ups at each site. Along with that, you can request a fire ring, firewoods, and picnic tables.

Premium RV sites near the lakes enjoy even better amenities with patios and chairs.

Among all the luxurious amenities, the most notable one is the designer pool suitable for swimming. Next to the pool is a spacious lodge with a fireplace.

Other amenities inside the 200-acres resort include a playground with horseshoe pits, a volleyball court, a golf course, hiking and biking trails, a dog park, and on-site laundry.

If that’s not enough, head over to the Splash Kingdom Waterpark, the Yesterland Farm, or the Canton Flea Market, all of which are within a few miles of the park.

With so many things to do in and around the Mill Creek Ranch Resort, $40/night for an RV site is a bargain.

Best Luxury RV Parks in Texas

If luxury is the topmost priority in your camping trip to Texas, it’s best to stay at RV resorts instead of RV parks. Here are some luxury RV resorts in Texas:

Trinity Luxury RV Resort – Trinity, TX

Trinity is a small, quiet town with a population of around 2,500. But it houses one of the most luxurious RV resorts in the state. The Trinity Luxury RV Resort and Cabins are spread across 140 acres in the midst of piney woods with all the essential amenities.

For the RVs, there are concrete pads with full hook-ups. At 60 X 20 feet of area, each site can easily accommodate large RVs alongside a fire pit, picnic table, and sun loungers.

You do not have to leave the resort to engage in fun activities like golfing or fishing. There’s a well-stocked fishing lake inside the RV resort where you can catch largemouth bass, catfish, and perch. Besides that, the pond is also suitable for kayaking, paddle boarding, and canoeing.

Then head over to the golf course on golf carts, which are available for rent.

The resort is also home to miles of multi-use trails. These will take you through the dense forests and secluded spots you may have never experienced before. You can traverse the trails on foot, bike, or the golf cart.

The resort owners believe in bringing a community together, and many communal events take place quite frequently.

Sun Outdoors San Antonio West – San Antonio

Sun Outdoors has multiple RV campgrounds in Texas, but the one in San Antonio is arguably the best and most luxurious. Previously known as Blazing Star RV Resort, the campground is 18 miles from San Antonio Downtown.

San Antonio West has more than 200 RV sites, both pull-thru and back-in. But all of them are full hook-ups built on concrete pads. The premium sites can easily house rigs up to 70 feet long. The luxury resort also has vacation homes and two-bedroom cabin rentals as accommodation options.

Coming to amenities, there are plenty of them. You’ll have everything inside the property, from swimming pools to laundry to dog parks. Besides that, you’ll find a start-of-the-art gymnasium to stay in shape while on the trip. The on-site library will keep the bookworms busy.

There are many fun activities nearby – SeaWorld being one of them. The marine animal park is only half a mile away.

The resort is slightly expensive, with the RV sites priced at $70 per night on average. If you’re looking for luxury RV camping near San Antonio, this resort is it.

The Lone Star State is home to 370 miles of coastline featuring lots of beaches to visit. Here are the best beach RV parks in the state to experience the Gulf Coast charm:

Other prominent places nearby are the Indianola Fishing Marina, Hatch Bend Country Club, Half Moon Reef Lighthouse, and the Calhoun County Museum.

With the daily price set at $30 per RV site (which reduces to $300 per month), you can plan a long-term trip without breaking the bank.

Best RV Parks in Texas for Fishing

There are a few RV parks in Texas that cater to anglers and fishing enthusiasts. If you happen to be one of them, you can’t afford to miss these campgrounds:

By the River RV Park – Kerrville

As the name suggests, this RV park is located by a river, the Guadalupe River. The river is bifurcated by Turtle Point, hence is called a fork when it passes the campground. You can sit by the river all day long and hunt species like rainbow trout, smallmouth and largemouth bass, and rio grande perch, among others.

It’s a small park with about 50 RV sites. All of them are full hook-ups, and half of them are found next to the river. There’s a bridge that connects to the island across the river. So you’ll have access to even more fishing spots.

Besides that, there are fishing spots at other places near the RV park, like Kerrville Lake and Flat Rock Park. You’ll also find hiking, kayaking, and paddleboarding opportunities at these spots.

Lake Casa Blanca International State Park Campsite – Laredo

This international state park is a lakeside park located along the shores of Lake Casa Blanca. The lake is actually a reservoir on Chacon Creek that resulted from the construction of a dam.

Lake Casa Blanca supports a thriving aquatic life that consists of bass fishes, crappies, catfishes, and sunfishes.

Lake Casa Blanca International State Park has nine full hook-up RV sites, with the other sites being power and water hook-ups only. Besides that, it’s a pretty rustic campground that encourages campers to better connect with nature.

Best Time to Visit Texas for RV Camping

Texas is a big state with varying weather conditions throughout the year.

In general, Texas is characterized by three different climates, which are, mountain, continental, and marine. And the best time to experience that is during the months of March and April. That’s when the spring sets in and the Texian wildflowers come to life.

The temperature is also moderate, and nearly all of the tourist attractions are open to the public.

Summers are a bit harsh in Texas, but many campers prefer the subtropical climate. Winters during December through February are mild. Hence, it’s the best time for hiking through the state parks.
