Attention Leaf Chasers! A Perfect 5-Day RV Trip in New England

Every fall, “leaf chasers” take to Interstate 92 and head to New England, the part of the U.S. best known for bountiful foliage this time of year. Sitting up in a big Class A, a cruise on the road becomes the best picture show you can imagine.

Start your adventure up in Northern Maine at Nesowadnehunk Lake Wilderness Campground. It’s in the one of the most beautiful areas of the state, and not only can you enjoy the brilliant leave colors of fall, you’ll also be able to stretch your legs and hike, bike on the trails, go fishing or hunting.

Continue your trip down south to Camden Hills Campground, in mid-coast Maine. Only about 15 minutes to Rockport on the coast, you can take in the friendly attitude and quaint nature of rural Maine, all the while surrounded by the beauty of fall.

Next stop, Vermont, which actually posts a scenic fall travel guide that you can drive to and follow at anywhere in the state.

The scenic route begins in Manchester Center, and the RV park to stay at is a few miles south called Winhall Brook COE in South Londonderry. You are close enough to Manchester proper to replenish suppies, if needed, yet you are still in the heart of fall leave country, with the magic of fall everywhere around you.

Travel next to the Brattleboro North KOA campground located right on Route 5. It’s easy to get to and easy to find, and if you take the kids, it’s family friendly with ice cream socials, arts and crafts and wagon rides. While you enjoy the outdoors, your kids will enjoy the fun.

Wind your way back up north to Vermont’s Limehurst Lake Campground located near Williamstown on Route 14. This may be the most spectacular fall viewing that you’ll do, as you’ll travel from south to north during prime time. The further north you go the more incredible the show will be, and when you get to the camp site, you’ll find it is located on a lake surrounded by autumn touched trees. It’s the perfect place to spend your final night, and the memories will become priceless.
